Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Thākura | Appearance Day - Prayers | 24th September, 2026
O Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura, great ācārya and eternal servant of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu,
I offer my humble obeisances at your lotus feet.
How can I ever properly express my gratitude to you?
You appeared at a time when the teachings and glories of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu had become greatly obscured, and by your extraordinary efforts, you revived the pure current of Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇavism and preserved it for future generations.
You were not merely a great scholar, writer, or administrator. You were a *deeply surrendered servant of Śrī Gaurāṅga*, carrying His mission within your heart.
Through your writings, songs, prayers, and teachings, you gave us a treasure of pure bhakti.
Through your *Jaiva-dharma*, *Hari-nāma-cintāmaṇi*, *Śrī Caitanya-śikṣāmṛta*, and countless other works, you opened the teachings of the previous ācāryas for us.
Through your songs, you taught us how to cry for the mercy of the Lord.
And through your life, you showed us what it means to remain completely dedicated to the service of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu.
O Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura, you envisioned the holy name of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu being chanted throughout the entire world.
You prayed that people from different countries and cultures would come together and chant the holy name.
Today, when I see the holy name being chanted in different parts of the world, I can only bow my head at your lotus feet and think:
*How much you must have desired this.
How much you must have prayed for this.*
O Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura, whatever little opportunity I have today to hear about Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, to chant His holy name, to study the teachings of the Gosvāmīs, and to serve the Vaiṣṇavas has come to me through the mercy that you helped preserve and distribute.
Please bless me that I may never take this mercy for granted.
Please bless me that I may develop genuine taste for the holy name and genuine attachment to the service of the Vaiṣṇavas.
Please bless me that whatever knowledge I acquire may increase my humility and gratitude rather than my pride.
O Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura, you preserved the treasure of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu and passed it forward so that people like me could receive it.
*Please bless me that I may become a sincere servant of that same mission.*
Please remove from my heart the desire to enjoy, control, or be recognized.
I offer my humble obeisances again and again at your lotus feet.
